Young Authors’ Contest
Dr. Roberta Robinson 2018-2019 - Author Series Dr. Roberta Robinson, Ed.D. in Education; MA in the Teaching of Writing; Certificate of Advanced Study in Literacy; Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, with permanent certification in Elementary Education Birth to Grade 6, Literacy, Birth to Grade 6. Her doctoral dissertation is an annotated bibliography of 95 Elementary Level Middle East and Arab World Themed Literature with an added Middle East and Arab World Themed bibliography of 31 resources for teachers. She is a long-standing member of the Middle East Outreach Committee and for the last 5 years has served on the MEOC Book Award committee. Her extra-curricular education includes attendance at the Dar Al Islam Teachers’ Institute in New Mexico, The Arabic Language Institute in Fez, Morocco, Yale Pier Summer Institute: Worlds of Islam. Professional Development Workshops attended: Columbia University; University of Denver; Nassau Reading Council; Phi Delta Kappa. Dr. Robinson documented her experiences during her years living in the Middle East and her year-long explorations of 25 countries on three continents. She also spent a total of 6 months documenting her experiences while traveling to 47 states here in the U.S. It was these experiences that led her to research global and multicultural education. Dr. Robinson has published two articles in the Social Science Docket.
Books will be available at a discount, and our visiting authors will again be available to autograph them for you. Please plan to join us and meet your favorite authors. PRE-REGISTRATION IS NECESSARY! Admission is FREE to members who are paid in full. There is a $35.00 fee for non-members receiving BOCES credit each semester. This fee may be applied toward membership. All Programs will be held on Thursdays 4:15-6:15 pm, in the Shelter Rock Elementary School Auditorium 27A Shelter Rock Road, Manhasset, New York 10030 LIE-Exit 35 from West; 36 from East. OR Northern State-Exit 27.
